And when said a party of them, "O People (of) Yathrib! No stand for you, so return." And asked permission a group of them (from) the Prophet, saying, "Indeed, our houses (are) exposed," and not they (were) exposed. Not they wished but to flee.
and when some of them said, “O you people of Yathrib! You cannot withstand [the enemy] here: hence, go back [to your homes]!” — Whereupon a party from among them asked leave of the Prophet, saying, “Behold, our houses are exposed [to attack]!” — The while they were not [really] exposed: they wanted nothing but to flee
And when a party of them said: O folk of Yathrib! There is no stand (possible) for you, therefor turn back. And certain of them (even) sought permission of the Prophet, saying: Our homes lie open (to the enemy). And they lay not open. They but wished to flee
Behold! A party among them said: "Ye men of Yathrib! ye cannot stand (the attack)! therefore go back!" And a band of them ask for leave of the Prophet, saying, "Truly our houses are bare and exposed," though they were not exposed they intended nothing but to run away
And ˹remember˺ when a group of them said, “O people of Yathrib! There is no point in you staying ˹here˺, so retreat!” Another group of them asked the Prophet’s permission ˹to leave˺, saying, “Our homes are vulnerable,” while ˹in fact˺ they were not vulnerable. They only wished to flee.
and a faction of them said, "People of Yathrib, there is nothing for you [here], so return [home]." Yet another group asked permission of the Prophet, saying, "Our houses are exposed," although, in fact they were not. They intended only to flee.
Others said, People of Yathrib, you cannot withstand [the enemy] here: so go back! Yet others asked leave of the Prophet, saying, Our houses are exposed and [defenceless].They were in truth not exposed: they only wished to flee
And when a party of them said: O people of Yasrib! there is no place to stand for you (here), therefore go back; and a party of them asked permission of the prophet, saying. Surely our houses are exposed; and they were not exposed; they only desired to fly away
And when a section of them said: O people of Yathrib! There is no habitation for you, so return. A group of people ask permission of the Prophet among them saying: Truly, Our houses are exposed. But they were not exposed. They want only to run away.
So when a faction of them said: "O people of Yathrib, there is no room for you, so return!", a group of them took leave of the Prophet, saying: "Our houses lie exposed." They were not defenseless; they merely wanted to run away.
And a party of them said: “O people of Madinah! There is no stand for you (against the enemy attack!). Therefore go back!” Another band of them asked permission of the prophet saying: “Truly, our homes lie open (to the enemy),” they were not secure. They wished nothing but to flee (from battle).
And when a group among them said, “O people of Yathrib! There is no stand for you; so turn back.” And a group among them sought permission from the Prophet, saying, “Truly our houses are exposed,” though they were not exposed. They wanted naught but to flee
And when a group from amongst them said: “O residents of Yathrib! There is no position for you (to fight or win), therefore go back (in retreat).” And a band of them asks An-Nabi for permission (to leave the battle field). They say: 'Our houses lie unprotected and exposed,' although they lay not open and exposed. Intend they not but (only) running away (from the encounter)
And a party of them said: "O people of Yathrib (Medina)! You cannot stand the attack much longer. Go back to your city." And yet another party of them sought leave of the Prophet saying: "In fact our houses are insecure," whereas they were not insecure. They intended nothing but to run away from the battlefront
And when a group of them said, 'O people of Yathrib, you cannot make a stand, so retreat.' And a faction of them asked the Prophet to excuse them, saying, 'Our homes are exposed,' although they were not exposed. They only wanted to flee
And as a section of them said, " O population of Yathrib, Al-Madinah) there is no stationing (here) for you, so return!" And a group of them were asking permission of the Prophet, saying, "Surely our houses are privacies." (Or: weak spots; i.e., They begged permission to protect their own homes) And in no way were they privacies; decidedly they would like (to seek) nothing except flight
It was there that a group of them said, "People of Yathrib, turn back for there is no place for you to stay." Another group, asking for the Prophet's permission, said, "Our homes are defenseless." In fact, they were not defenseless. They only wanted to run away
and when a group of them said, .O people of Yathrib (Madinah), there is no place for you to stay; so go back. And a group of them was seeking permission (to leave) from the prophet, saying, .In fact our homes are vulnerable,. while they were not vulnerable; they wanted nothing but to escape
A group among them said, "O You people of Yathrib! There is no stand possible for you, so, go back." And some of them even sought permission of the Prophet, saying, "Behold, our homes are exposed (to the enemy)." (With the believers firmly entrenched around the town) their homes were not really exposed. They wanted nothing but to flee. (Yathrib = Madinah)
A group of them announced, "Oh people of ´Yathrib´ (Medina)! This is not the place to stand the attack. Turn back!" Some of them approached the prophet seeking permission to depart. They said their homes were in danger. Their homes were not in danger. They just wanted to flee
And when a party among them said: "You men of Yathrib (the Prophet’s old town)! You cannot withstand (the attack), so go back!" And a group of them asked the Prophet to be excused (to go away), saying: "Truly, our houses are bare and in danger," even though they were not in (any) danger: They wanted nothing but to run away (from fighting)
And when a faction of them said, "O people of Yathrib, there is no stability for you [here], so return [home]." And a party of them asked permission of the Prophet, saying, "Indeed, our houses are unprotected," while they were not exposed. They did not intend except to flee
And a group of them said: "O people of Yathrib, you cannot make a stand; therefore, retreat." And a small party of them sought permission from the prophet, saying: "Our homes are exposed," while they were not exposed. They just wanted to flee
Some of them said, ‘People of Yathrib, you will not be able to withstand [the attack], so go back!’ Some of them asked the Prophet’s permission to leave, saying, ‘Our houses are exposed,’ even though they were not- they just wanted to run away
And when a party of them said: O inhabitants of Yathrib! there is no place for you, so return. And a part of them asked leave of the Prophet, saying: verily our houses lie open; whereas they lay not open; they only wished to flee
When a section of them said: "O people of Yathrib, there is no place for you here, turn back;" and a section of them asked leave of the Prophet, saying: "Our homes lie exposed," -- while they were not exposed. Their only intention was to run away
and a group of them said, ´People of Yathrib, Your position is untenable so return!´ some of them asked the Prophet to excuse them, saying, ´Our houses are exposed,´ when they were not exposed; it was merely that they wanted to run away.
And when a group among them said: "O people of Yathrib! You cannot withstand the enemy (here), therefore go back (to your homes)." And a party among them asked for leave of the Prophet, saying, "Surely our houses are exposed (to attack)," though they were not exposed (indeed). They desired nothing but to flee
And when a group of them said, ‘O people of Yathrib! [This is] not a place for you, so go back!’ And a group of them sought the Prophet’s permission, saying, ‘Our homes lie exposed [to the enemy],’ although they were not exposed. They only sought to flee
And when a party of them said, "O people of Yathrib! there is no place to stand for you (here), therefore go back"; and a party of them asked permission of the Prophet, saying. "Surely our houses are exposed"; and they were not expose
And (remember) when a group of them said: people of Yathreb (Medina), there is no place for you, so return. And a part of them asked permission from the prophet, saying: our homes are unprotected (and defenseless). While they were not unprotected, they only wanted to run away
Behold, a group among them said, “You people of Yathrib, you cannot stand the attack, therefore go back.” And a group of them asks for leave of the Prophet saying, “Truly our houses are bare, and exposed,” though they were not exposed. They intended nothing but to run away
A group of them said, “People of Yathrib, you will not be safe anywhere, so retreat,” while another group sought the Prophet’s permission to go back, saying, “Our homes are exposed,” yet they were not exposed; they wanted to flee.
And when a section of them said: "(O people of Yathrib), now there is no place for you to stay, so turn back." (And call to mind) when a section of them was seeking permission from the Prophet to leave, saying: "Our houses are exposed (to attack)," although they were not exposed (to attack); they only wished to flee (from the battle-front)
And a group of them said: "O people of Yathrib, there is no station for you, so come back." And a small party of them sought permission from the prophet, saying: "Our homes are exposed," while they were not exposed. They just wanted to flee
And when a section of them said, "O people of Yathrib! You cannot make a stand, so go back. And a group of them sought permission of the Prophet, saying, "Our houses are exposed." And their houses were not exposed; they just wanted to run away
And when a party of them said, 'O people, of Madina, here there is place for your stay, therefore walk back to your houses,' and a party of them asked permission of the prophet, saying our houses are unsafe, and they were not unsafe. They wished not but to flee away.
A group of them said, "O people of Yathrib, you cannot attain victory; go back." Others made up excuses to the prophet: "Our homes are vulnerable," when they were not vulnerable. They just wanted to flee.
And when a party of them said: 'People of Yathrib (Madinah), there is no place for you here, therefore return. ' And a party of them asked leave of theProphet, saying: 'Our houses are exposed' whereas they were not, they only wished to flee
And if an entry were made upon them from the outlying parts of it, then they were asked to wage war (against the Muslims), they would certainly have done it, and they would not have stayed in it but a little while
And when a group of people from them said: "You people (of) Yethrib , (there is) no position/status for you, so return." And a group/party from them ask the prophet for permission/pardon (E) they say: "That truly our houses/homes (are) weakly defended ." And it is not with weakly defended , that truly they want except escape
A group of them went far enough to say: “You [foolish] people of Medina, you have no chance in the [upcoming] battle; fly the front.” A group of them went to the Prophet and asked to leave the battle front saying: “Our homes are in danger.” They were just looking for an excuse to flee
And when a group among said, “O people of Medinah! This is no place of stay for you, therefore go back to your homes”; and a group among them sought exemption from the Prophet by saying, “Our homes are unprotected” whereas their homes were not unprotected; they willed nothing except to flee
And when a party of them said, `O people of Yathrib, you can possibly make no stand against the enemy, therefore turn back. And a section of them even asked leave of the Prophet, say, `Our houses are exposed,' whereas they were not exposed. They only sought to flee
And when a party of them said: ‘O people of Yathrib! There is no position left for you to stay (safely), so go back (home),’ and a party of them began to seek permission from the Holy Prophet ([blessings and peace be upon him] to go back), saying: ‘Our houses are lying exposed,’ whereas their houses were not exposed; they only wanted to escape (on this pretext)
And (recall) when a party of them (also) said, `O people of Yathrib (- Madinah)! you can put up no stand (in the face of the enemy); you had better go back (to your homes or your old faith to save your lives). And a section of them asked the Prophet for leave saying, `Surely, our homes are lying exposed (to danger) whereas they were not actually lying exposed, but they only sought to flee (from the battlefield)
And when a party of them said: "O people of Yathrib (AlMadinah)! There is no stand (possible) for you (against the enemy attack!) Therefore go back!" And a band of them ask for permission of the Prophet ( SAW) saying: "Truly, our homes lie open (to the enemy)." And they lay not open. They but wished to flee
And when a party of them said, 'O people of Yathrib, there is no abiding here for you, therefore return!' And a part of them Were asking leave of the Prophet, saying, 'Our houses are exposed'; yet they were not exposed; they desired only to flee
And when a party of them said, O inhabitants of Yathreb, there is no place of security for you here; wherefore return home. And a part of them asked leave of the prophet to depart, saying, verily our houses are defenceless and exposed to the enemy: But they were not defenceless; and their intention was no other than to fly
And when a party of them said, 'O people of Yathreb; there is no place for you (here), return then (to the city).' And a part of them asked leave of the prophet (to return), saying, 'Verily, our houses are defenceless;' but they were not defenceless, they only wished for flight
And when a party of them said, "O people of Yathrib! there is no place of safety for you here; therefore return into the city." And another party of you asked the prophet's leave to return, saying, "Our houses are left defenceless." No! they were not left defenceless: but their sole thought was to flee away
Some among them said: ‘People of Yathrib,³ you cannot stand much longer. Go back to your city.‘ And yet others sought the Prophet‘s leave, saying: ‘Our homes are defenceless,‘ while defenceless they were not. They only wished to flee
A group among them said, “People of Yathrib, you cannot withstand! Go back!” A group of them asked permission from the Prophet. They said, “Truly, our houses are exposed.” Really, they were not exposed. They only wanted to run away.
So when a faction of them said: "O people of Yathrib, there is no room for you, so return!", a group of them took leave of the Prophet, saying: "Our houses lie exposed." They were not defenceless; they merely wanted to run away.
Some of them said: 'People of Yathrib! You cannot withstand [the attack] here, so go back.' And a group of them asked the Prophet's permission to leave, saying: 'Our houses are exposed,' while they were not exposed. They only wanted to run away.
And a group of them said, “O people of Yasrib (the previous name of Medina)! There is no place here for you to stay, go back!” And another group asked permission of the Nabi saying, “Indeed, our houses are unprotected”... While they (their houses) were not unprotected... They wanted nothing other than to flee.
And when a party of them said: 'O' you the people of Yathrib! There is no place for you to stand (here) so go back,' and a group of them asked permission of the Prophet, saying: 'Verily our houses are exposed'; and they were not exposed. They only intended to flee away (from battle field)
And some of them advised people of the city Yathrib to defect. They said to them: "O you people of Yathrib this is not the place for you, you just go back to your homes". Another party asked the Prophet's permission if they could be excused! They said to him: "Our homes are exposed and defenseless when in fact they were not and were guarded by other Muslims but in truth they wanted to fly away and take to their heels"
and when a group from among them said, “O people of Yasrib (Madina) ! you have no stand, so return,” and a party from among them sought permission of the prophet, saying, “Our houses are certainly exposed,” when they were not exposed, they intended nothing but to run away.
Behold! A party among them said: "Ye men of Yathrib! ye cannot stand (the attack)! therefore go back!" And a band of them ask for leave of the Prophet, saying, "Truly our houses are bare and exposed," though they were not exposed they intende d nothing but to run away
